Saratoga Associates Congratulates Vineyard Wind 1 Team on Receiving EBC 2024 Ruth H. Silman Award for Climate Change Project of the Year
Saratoga Springs, April 4, 2024 – Saratoga Associates proudly extends its congratulations to the Vineyard Wind 1 team for being awarded the prestigious Environmental Business Council of New England (EBC) 2024 Ruth H. Silman Award for Climate Change Project of the Year. The award recognizes the remarkable contributions of Vineyard Wind 1 in supplying clean energy to the grid, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s renewable energy landscape.
Vineyard Wind 1, a joint venture between Avangrid and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, stands as the pioneering offshore wind project in the United States. The facility, located on the outer continental shelf, boasts 62 wind turbines towering over 800 feet high. Since its inception, Vineyard Wind 1 has been a trailblazer, setting the standard for federal permitting processes for future offshore wind projects.

The Vineyard Wind 1 team, in collaboration with federal colleagues at the United States Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, conducted a thorough permitting assessment covering various environmental, social, economic, historic, and cultural aspects. Upon completion, Vineyard Wind 1 is expected to power approximately 400,000 homes while significantly reducing carbon emissions by over 1.6 million tons per year.
