Hinsdale, MA
Saratoga Associates’ Senior Associate Eric Whiting brought to life a memorial trolley car at the historic Hinsdale overpass walk.
Earlier this month, a group of volunteers, including Whiting, gathered at the Old Dalton Road overpass, known as the Mickey Mouse Bridge. The site is famous for its colorful, painted cartoons as well of the memory of a tragic trolley accident in 1910. This year was dedicated to brightening the existing cartoon paintings, adding some playful critters, and creating a mural of the trolley dedicated to the victims and survivors.
Whiting teamed with Allen Fresher, the original cartoon artist, to illustrate the trolley. It was a great effort by the team to finalize the drawings and sketch the trolley on the wall. From there, community members joined in to fill in the paint. This new addition to the bridge pays homage to the site’s past, while bringing an exciting new scene for community members and visitors to enjoy.
