I Love My Park Day 2018 Provides a Valiant Park Clean Up

I Love My Park Day is an exciting statewide event, organized by Parks & Trails New York (PTNY) in partnership with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) and local Friends groups, to celebrate and enhance New York’s parks and historic sites and bring visibility to the entire park system and its needs. Over 8000 volunteers came out to show their support for I Love My Park Day and contributed an amazing effort toward helping to keep our state parks looking great and providing a great experience for visitors. We were thrilled to be a sponsor this year. In just one day of overwhelming effort, the environmental impact of volunteers consisted of:

  • 820 trees being planted
  • 800+ Bags of trash being removed
  • 163 bags of invasive species removed
  • 115 picnic tables repaired/built
  • 26 miles of shoreline cleaned
  • 135 miles of trails impriopved
  • 264 gardens created or enhanced
  • Countless painting and cleaning projects completed

I Love My Park Day is such an important event to help show our local parks and recreational spaces some love and to give back to the environment that gives so much to us. Such an impact can be made in only one day when you’ve got whole communities banning together. Now go out and enjoy your improved parks!
