Saratoga Associates is proud to have played a pivotal role in providing visual consulting services, including the creation of a comprehensive three-dimensional computer model and photorealistic simulations, for the Wendell Energy Storage Project.

In collaboration with New Leaf Energy, Saratoga Associates has contributed to the development of a cutting-edge 105 MW / 4-hour battery energy storage system. This innovative project aims to enhance the flexibility and reliability of the electric grid while prioritizing environmental sustainability. The storage system, designed by New Leaf Energy, will play a crucial role in optimizing energy usage and reducing reliance on conventional fossil fuel resources during peak demand.

The Wendell Energy Storage Project employs a forward-thinking approach by charging its batteries during periods of ample system supply, typically when solar and wind energy resources are at their peak. The stored energy is then dispatched back into the electric grid during times of peak demand, effectively mitigating the need for additional generation from traditional fossil fuel sources. This strategy aligns seamlessly with ISO-NE’s reliability requirements and contributes significantly to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’s ambitious goal of achieving a 50% economy-wide reduction in emissions by 2030.
