Site Civil Engineer (3-5 Years)
Saratoga Associates is seeking knowledgeable candidates to fulfill the full-time position of Site Civil Engineer. Candidates should have 3-5 years of professional experience in Site Engineering to join our team. This position will support all key areas of our firm’s architecture and landscape architecture services, including site design and stormwater management for parks, trails, waterfronts, residences, site development, and streetscapes. This individual’s work will be under the direction of a Professional Engineer. Individual will be a member of a client-focused, multi-disciplinary design team of landscape architects, architects, engineers, and planners. Candidates should be well organized and self-motivated to work effectively, both independently and in a team-based environment.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or related field from an accredited school
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification in New York State or equivalent
- Experience with site construction projects, including civil engineering, landscape architecture, and stormwater design/management
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with a multi-disciplinary design team (design consultants, contractors, and subcontractors), including day to day communication
- Report to Project Manager and support the completion of multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines
- Coordinate with clients and consultants and assist in general administration
- Produce site civil plans, design calculations, technical specifications, construction details, stormwater reports, cost estimates, and other technical documents. Elements may include stormwater, hardscape, water, and wastewater/septic design.
- Support bidding processes and provide construction administration services (observation of work, field reports, review of submittals, etc) as required to ensure work performed by contractor is in compliance with contract documents
- Travel to project sites as needed (primarily within New York State), occasionally with some overnights
Requirements:
- Proficiency in in site civil design/landscape architecture and permitting, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and applicable local and state permit applications.
- Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to design of projects.
- Knowledge of general construction principles, techniques, and procedures
- Strong analytical, administration, and written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Revit, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat and/or Bluebeam
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff and consultants
- Demonstrate dependability, positive attitude, and strong work ethic
- Demonstrate organized and self-motivated execution of responsibilities
- Possess reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license in good standing
- Ability to access all areas of project sites and conduct physical evaluations of site and facilities
- Proof of US citizenship or permanent resident status.
Desired Skill Sets and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of job-related experience
- Experience with modeling using HydroCAD, WaterCAD, or other hydraulic/process modeling software
- Experience preparing of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs)
- Familiarity with public sector clients (state, municipal)
- Experience taking projects through construction phases to project close-out
Compensation:
$70,000 – $85,000 salary, commensurate with experience.
