Revitalizing Dolgeville: Village Wins NY Forward Grant for Community Development

We are excited to congratulate the Village of Dolgeville, NY on receiving the NY Forward Grant! Dolgeville is one of three Mohawk Valley winners of the first round.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced Thursday, March 2, that Dolgeville will receive $2.25 million in funding. This grant will be a significant boost to the Dolgeville Forward project, which is aimed at revitalizing and enhancing the community. Saratoga Associates Landscape Architects, Architects, Engineers, and Planners, P.C. played a key role in assisting the Village through the grant writing and interview process.

Senior Principal Dan Shearer, P.E. led Saratoga Associates’ efforts and is thrilled for the Village. Shearer stated, “it was the passion from Mayor Mary Puznowski and [Dolgeville Forward’s] Christine Reynolds that was felt through the interview and got the win”. Landscape Architect and Dolgeville native, Andrew Trodler, R.L.A. is especially excited, stating, “this really hits home…I’m excited to have the opportunity to complete the work we’ve done”. The efforts of Shearer and Trodler were instrumental in securing this grant. Their hard work, expertise, and dedication to the project paid off, and we are thrilled for the Village of Dolgeville.

Saratoga Associates is currently leading the design and implementation of enhancements at Center Park in Dolgeville. The project includes a new pavilion, splash pad, basketball court reconstruction, parking improvements, and incorporation of new walkways, seating, lighting, and landscaping. With the additional grant money available, Dolgeville has the opportunity to complete the entire construction at one time, which will lead to cost savings in the long run.

The NY Forward funds will support Dolgeville Forward, which is a critical initiative for the community. This project aims to improve the quality of life for Dolgeville residents and create economic opportunities in the area. The grant will help fund a range of projects and initiatives, including job training, infrastructure improvements, and small business support.

We are grateful to NYS Governor Kathy Hochul for her attendance at the award ceremony and her continued support for communities across the state. We applaud the Village of Dolgeville and the Saratoga Associates team. We look forward to seeing the positive impact that Dolgeville Forward will have on the community in the years to come.
