Local Waterfront Revitalization Program
Saratoga Associates worked with the Town of Willsboro on the development of a community vision and revitalization strategy, focusing on the community’s connection with the Bouquet River and Lake Champlain.
The focus of the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) is on water-related uses, water quality, connectivity, and improvements to public infrastructure and the business district to enhance walkability, wayfinding, tourism activities, and public waterfront access.
The Town sought to balance access to the waterfront for local year-round and seasonal residents with the attraction of visitors from neighboring communities, as well as from Vermont and Canada. The majority of the Town’s waterfront is privately owned, limiting public access. Additionally, some areas of the waterfront were prone to erosion or served as wildlife habitat.
Saratoga Associates worked closely with the Committee, building upon ideas in previous community plans to develop a vision for the waterfront that will lead to the benefit and enjoyment of residents and visitors alike.
