The landscape architecture studio at Saratoga Associates seeks to articulate the connections between natural systems, people and place. Through a well-honed planning and design process, the firm works collaboratively to create spaces that are integrally connected with the natural world and the communities that live, work or play within them. Saratoga Associates’ work encompasses parks and public landscapes, urban streetscapes, plazas and waterfronts, transportation corridors, academic and corporate campuses, brownfields and historic sites. With clients ranging from public agencies and private developers to cultural and educational institutions, we strive to make compelling places emerge out of respect for the nature, history, culture and use of a site.
Our site design begins with a clear articulation of achievable project goals and a program of proposed features and activities. Thorough research ensures that projects reflect a sense of place and express an understanding of environmental and ecological conditions. Planning, Visioning, and Implementation in Plattsburgh: Like many of its neighbors in the northeastern United States, the City of Plattsburgh is a regional urban center which has had to balance its numerous assets with the forces of change in the twentieth century. Its once thriving downtown, and resort- and industry-based waterfront, endured a period of decline which has recently begun to be reversed.
