Campus Pedestrian Greenway Study

During the development of the University of Alaska Southeast Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan, Saratoga Associates identified the opportunity to create a pedestrian greenway for the campus, facilitated by the relocation of the primary campus entry road. The greenway accommodated pedestrian circulation and service/emergency access in a manner that reflected the unique environment and local culture of southeast Alaska. The qualities of the Juneau Ice Field provided the primary inspiration for the organic nature of the pedestrian spine and adjoining landscape. Project tasks included the development of goals, program, site assessment, design concepts, and design vocabularies.
