The Fund for Lake George, Lake George, New York
The West Brook area of Lake George Village was at one time a heavily developed amusement park and parking lot. Recognizing the scenic value and environmental sensitivity of this 12-acre lakefront site, Saratoga Associates prepared a Master Plan to evaluate site conditions and recommend an appropriate long term vision for the property.
Given the high profile location at a major gateway into the Village and stormwater runoff considerations the Saratoga Concept Plan recommend the property be preserved as open space offering environmentally sensitive parkland for the enjoyment of tourists and residents.
Saratoga Associates proposed a public park that fused the remnants of the historic Gaslight Village amusement park complex with a sustainable approach to stormwater management. A rehabilitated Gaslight Village entry pavilion created an iconic gateway into the site and also served as an outdoor interpretive complex and environmental education center.
