Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York, Albany, New York
The Girl Scouts of America was founded over one hundred years ago and has a national membership of almost two million girls. The mission of the organization is to build courage, confidence, and character, and to make the world a better place. Part of this mission is achieved by inspiring its members to develop a respect and love for nature. Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York (GSNENY) offers year-round camping experiences for girls of all ages. However, some of these camps lack appropriate physical and educational facilities, structural durability and aesthetic quality.
To enhance the learning and social opportunities of the camp experience, Saratoga Associates assisted the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York developed a facilities master plan assessing opportunities and constraints associated with successful expansion and operation of eight currently functioning day and overnight camp facilities. The master plan included a resource inventory, structural analysis maintenance recommendations, and zoning analysis.
The master plan established the use and expansion potential for each of the eight camps to aid in long-term decision-making. The plan established a set of programming initiatives to prioritize capital improvement investment in the coming years.
