Hamlet of Brewerton Revitalization

Hamlet of Brewerton Revitalization

Town of Cicero, New York

The Hamlet of Brewerton experienced economic challenges related, in part, to inadequate infrastructure and deterioration of community character in the downtown and waterfront districts.

The Brewerton Revitalization Plan creates a vision for the Oneida River waterfront and downtown corridor that will serve as a catalyst for private-sector investment, redevelopment, and eventual transformation of the area into a more vibrant and economically sustainable community. The plan focuses improving public safety, enhancing pedestrian amenities, creating sense of arrival and rebuilding the Hamlet’s image as a waterfront community.

The vision for the downtown corridor offers a village-scale setting through streetscape improvements, bike lanes, and raised bump-outs to calm traffic and reduce pedestrian conflicts. Improvements to Riverfront Park reinforce the pedestrian and bicycle connection between the waterfront and downtown business district.  Enhancements to the park include ADA accessible walkways, upgrades to the existing dock wall to provide ADA access, parking facilities, and landscape improvements.  In addition, the Park will be expanded, where a pavilion for community use will be sited.
