James Baird State Park, NYS OPRHP, LaGrange, NY

The public golf course at James Baird State Park in Dutchess County, New York popular public facility with over 35,000 rounds of golf played annually. High use, poor drainage and inadequate irrigation resulted in turf maintenance problems and poor playing conditions.

As part of a term contract with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, Saratoga Associates was retained for the design and preparation of construction documents for the James Baird State Park Golf Course. The project included a golf course irrigation system, irrigation pond, pump house, pump station, rain garden, well pumps, and associated utilities. This project involved issues of State Permitting and custom design to accommodate for the endangered Blandings Turtle, which is present on-site. Saratoga Associates obtained all necessary permits obtained, prepared contract documents completed and provided construction administration services.
