St. John Fisher College, Rochester, New York
St. John Fisher College is a 4,000 student private liberal arts institution in Pittsford, New York. Founders Hall is designed to reflect original campus architecture and stay true to the College’s heritage and commitment to the future. This new 60,000-square-foot on-campus dormitory houses 192 upper-class students.
Design development included input from a student committee, including future occupants, resulted in a traditional layout and mix of single and 4-bed suites was developed. The generous social and educational spaces encourage student interaction and support summer residential conferences. The brick and cast stone exterior reflects the college’s historical architectural vernacular. The spacious first floor is reminiscent of a quality hotel complete with concierge desk, leather couches, tiled floors and oriental carpets. Every room is wired to support fiber optics linked and wireless telecommunication/data systems. Amenities include a central lobby, a student concierge station, and social and educational spaces to encourage interaction and support summer residential conferences. The project included additional site improvements and accommodated a previously proposed campus loop road.
