Limited space at Fort Hamilton High School required multiple use of areas, and increased wear and tear. The track and field design featured low-maintenence, high-performance materials, with a poured-in-place synthetic track system and a long-fiber synthetic turf with rubber granular infill, impact cushioning, and under drainage. Cutout areas in the turf allowed for seasonal adaptation of the field from football/soccer to baseball/softball to support a full high school athletic schedule. Movable spectator bleachers provided additional program flexibility.
