City of Troy, Troy, New York
Saratoga Associates worked with the City of Troy to create a Corridor Plan that would reintroduce fourteen acres of vacant land next to the downtown as a development friendly area that would improve quality of life for City residents that live in the vicinity.
The Congress and Ferry Street Corridor Plan helped the City reweave this land back into the community’s historic, urban fabric. This neighborhood will bring dense, mixed-use vitality to the parcels. The need for economic revitalization and environmental sustainability guided the project design.
As part of the master plan, an extensive public participation process was undertaken – one of the first visioning efforts of its kind in the City – that allowed local residents to help shape a new neighborhood. Saratoga Associates drafted the form-based zoning, which has since been adopted by the City, and is guiding private sector investment to meet the recommended economic and environmental goals.
