The Antrim Wind Project was originally proposed to be a 30 MW, 10-turbine wind facility located just south of Route 9 in Antrim, New Hampshire. Saratoga Associates was retained to prepare a visual resource assessment to identify the potential impact of this project on the area’s scenic resources.
Using standard accepted methodologies from which agency decision-makers can render a determination of visual significance, Saratoga Associates provided an objective evaluation of the visual character of the project within the mountain landscape. Work included a zone of visual influence analysis within a 5-mile radius of the proposed turbines, photo-realistic simulations illustrating project visibility, and an evaluation of potential impact on recreational resources and scenic setting.
In addition, Saratoga Associates completed an assessment of potential shadow flicker caused by the rotating turbine blades on nearby residences. An expanded viewshed and receptor analysis was also completed out to 10-miles around the proposed turbines.
